2021 TEG International Jazz Fest Presented by SpiritBank!

T.E.G. International Jazz Fest Presented by SpiritBank
Friday, June 4th, 2021, 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the Guthrie Green in Tulsa, Okla.

Three huge names in jazz– one of them a local darling– will bring jazz from all over the country to Tulsa’s own Guthrie Green for the 2021 T.E.G. International Jazz Fest Friday, June 4, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

Jazz giants Willie Bradley and Paula Atherton will travel to Tulsa for the event and will be joined by the Cynthia Simmons Quintet, an outfit Tulsa jazz lovers already know well.
Taylor Entertainment Group (T.E.G.) brings the event to Tulsa as a part of International Jazz Day, a worldwide day recognized by the United Nations and UNESCO and dates back to 2011. While International Jazz Day is traditionally observed on April 30, the T.E.G. International Jazz Fest is an official International Jazz Day event.

Willie Bradley is a jazz trumpeter from South Carolina. He had a recent number one hit on Billboard’s jazz charts and will bring his smooth tone to the Guthrie Green stage, as will another Billboard charter, saxophonist Paula Atherton, who brings New York roots to Tulsa. Both are big names in the jazz world, so Tulsans will be in for a treat. Local favorite Cynthia Simmons will join them with her quintet made up of Tulsa jazz musicians many audience members will recognize.

At first glance, Tulsa may seem an unusual choice for top-tier jazz artists to drop by, but organizer Taylor said it really isn’t.
“When someone mentions Oklahoma or Tulsa, it brings to mind country, rock, or indie music,” he said. “But jazz has deep roots here.” He mentioned some jazz legends who hailed from Oklahoma, including Jimmy Rushin, Frank Mantooth, and of course, the inimitable Chet Baker.
“Jazz is a big part of our state and our heritage, and we believe being involved in events like International Jazz Day will help keep it that way,” Taylor said.

The T.E.G. International Jazz Fest is presented by SpiritBank and will coincide with the Tulsa Arts District’s monthly First Friday Art Crawl, an event that often draws nearly 3,000 people each month. This, coupled with the event’s free admission, will likely ensure big crowds to take in some truly great jazz performances.
Tulsa began participating in International Jazz Day Events in 2016.
